Leadership

Mark Bulla

Mark Bulla joined the Burtonsville Volunteer Fire Department with his father in December of 1980.  He quickly became a skilled Firefighter who enjoys the technical challenges of fire and rescue.  He developed strong capabilities on the heavy rescue squad.  His distinguished tenure in the Department includes serving on the Board of Directors, as Treasurer and Secretary in addition to serving as President during the year the Department moved into the new station.

In 2016, Mark was recognized as the County’s Volunteer of the Year by the MCVFRA, honoring his commitment and the 2-3 twelve-hour duty shifts he was pulling each weekend.  Mark still pulls at least two shifts each week, is a driver/operator for all apparatus, serves as a Board Member as well as working on the new Rescue Squad design team.

Mark is the proud father of Katie and Michael Bulla, who grew up within the BVFD family, where his wife and son are Members today.
