2022 Open House a Success!
On October 1, 2022, the Burtonsville Volunteer Fire Department was able to open its bay doors to the community for the first time since the beginning of Covid, and held its an Open House event for the first time in several years.
While Covid restrictions are still in place within the majority of the building, the engine bay was turned into a Fire Prevention and Family Fun extravaganza with music, snacks, demonstrations, and activities. Special appearances from PAW Patrol’s resident fire pup, Marshall and the one and only Smokey the Bear added to the fun.
Representatives from Montgomery CERT, Montgomery County Sheriff’s, Junior Explorer’s program, Marilyn J. Praisner Recreation Center, MCDOT and more expanded the departments ability to provide public safety and community service information and activities.
To commemorate the station’s 75th anniversary, members from throughout the last 75 years were invited to join the current membership for a group photo. Thanks to lots of outreach from current and past members, a large number were able to attend!
