
New BVFD Rescue Squad Ordered
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: BVFD Places Order for new Heavy Rescue Squad
Silver Spring, MD – Wednesday, January 16, 2019 – The Burtonsville Volunteer Fire Department officially placed an order for a new E-ONE Heavy Rescue Squad through their regional vendor, Patriot Fire, LLC of Grasonville, Maryland.
The BVFD is proud to announce this important apparatus order, the result of nearly two years of successful research, planning, and specification development. The new Heavy Rescue Squad is expected to be delivered and in-service by mid-calendar year 2020. The unit will feature an upgraded Genesis brand hydraulic extrication tool capability, on-board generator, on-board air system, hydraulic and electric winches, Hi-Viz LED scene lighting, an on-board light tower, and various other tools and equipment. This unit will respond to a wide variety of emergency incidents ranging from vehicle collisions to structure fires and technical rescue situations.
The new unit will replace the 2004 Pierce Heavy Rescue Squad that has served Burtonsville and surrounding communities for the past fifteen years.
