Join Burtonsville Volunteer Fire Department for their Annual Open House: Oct. 15, Noon-4pm
Free fun and safety educational activities for the whole family!
BVFD will open its doors (and trucks!) to the community on Sunday, October 15, 2017 from 12 noon – 4 pm at 13900 Old Columbia Pike, Silver Spring, MD 20904. Join us to participate in the kids’ firefighter skills obstacle course, a fire house scavenger hunt, free blood pressure checks, a moon bounce, a 911 call simulator, station tours, car seat safety information, face painting, ambulance tours, the highly popular vehicle extrication demonstration at 3 pm, the Kona Ice truck, coloring pages and educational activities for kids, the Fire Safety House, and climb through all of our fire and rescue trucks! Come to ask questions of our volunteers about trucks and equipment. Learn about smoke detectors, calling 911, proper car seat installation and laws, what it’s like to be a firefighter or EMT, how to make a fire escape plan for your family, Christmas tree safety, and why BVFD doesn’t have a fire pole! Bring a camera, because there will be plenty of “Kodak moments”. Montgomery County Police will participate in games and activities with families. Come hungry, because our Auxiliary is selling food and drinks. And don’t leave without a free plastic fire helmet, balloon, tote bag and other useful items.
