
Hickory Leaf Way Townhouse Fire 6/1/14
On Sunday, June 1st, around 6:00pm, as crews were sitting down to dinner, a column of smoke was noticed in proximity to Station 15. Crews responded, as the call was being dispatched, and arrived on scene at 2922 Hickory Leaf Way to find a two story, middle of the row townhouse with fire showing from the first floor.
Truck 715 went to work forcing entry for Paramedic Engine 715 and splitting the crew; performing primary searches, laddering the building, and performing ventilation both horizontally and vertically while PE715 extinguished the fire on the first floor and in the basement. Crews also found fire on the second floor and in the attic.
Montgomery County is estimating the fire damage at $300K; one family was displaced; The cause is currently undetermined, but most probable – kitchen electrical appliance.
