Two Fires In One Week
Several Homes Damaged As Fires Break Out In The Burtonsville Area

At 5:42 AM on June 23rd the call for a house "...on fire..." was dispathced. Units from Burtonsville, and Hillandale quickly arrived on the scene to find the entire second floor on fire. Additional manpower was requested and within 20 minutes the fire was out. The cause off the fire is still under investigation. Units stayed on the scene for approximately four hours.

On July 5th at 4:48 PM the alarm for an apartment fire was sounded. Units from Burtonsville, Hillandale, Silver Spring, Takoma Park, and several companies from Princes Georges county were dispatched. Shortly the first unit arrived on the scene and reported fire coming from the second floor. The incident commander quickly realized the need for additional units and asked for the second alarm. Two apartments were destroyed and several others were badly damagaed. Units were on the scene until ten O'clock at night.
