![]() Four Alarm Fire in Gaithersburg
09/25/00 Burtonsville firefighters were called to assist on a 4 alarm fire just off of Route 355 in Gaithersburg. Southbound Frederick Avenue in Gaithersburg was reopened just after 7 a.m. at the site of an early-morning four-alarm fire, but northbound Frederick Avenue is expected to be closed from West Deer Park Road to South Summit through the morning rush hour, officials said. The fire, which started in the 400 block of South Frederick Avenue about 4 a.m., was brought under control by 5:20 a.m., Montgomery County fire officials said. The fire damaged every business in the Hollbrook Shopping Center. The cause of the fire is under investigation. Over 30 units and over one hundred firefighters responded to this blaze. Personnel are still on the scene cleaning up after this horrific blaze.
