![]() The BVFD responds to two alarm building fire.
04/12/00 Wheaton, MD. Burtonsville Vol. Fire Dept. Responds to garden apartment fire. The fire quickly spread to the floor above the fire. Montgomery County 911 received a call for a building on fire, in the 2300 block of Glenmont Circle. The initial units to arrive on the scene from Kensington Volunteer Fire Department and upon arrival units found fire coming out of several windows. Units quickly threw up 2 ladders to the building to provide ventilation. Moments later Command 18 was established and a 2nd alarm was sounded. Truck 15 responded as the second due truck on the second alarm, and they positioned on side three of the building and immediately raised the aerial ladder to the roof to provide some much needed roof ventilation. The fire was extinguished in less than 30 minutes and had damaged more than 4 apartments. More than 50 emergency personnel responded to the scene coming on more than 16 fire apparatus.
