Wed. Feb. 23th, Hillandale, MD. Burtonsville Vol. Fire Dept. Responds to wood stove fire with extension. The fire quickly spread to the attic and through the roof.

Early Wednesday evening, Montgomery County 911 received a call for a house on fire, possibly a chimney fire, in the 13500 block of Sherwood Forest Drive, at 2100 hours. The initial units to arrive on the scene reported from Hillandale and Burtonsville Fire Departments. Upon arrival units found fire coming from the roof. Units threw a 35 ladder to the roof and quickly removed part of the roof and the chimney to extinguish the fire.

The fire was extinguished in less than 10 minutes. More than 30 emergency personnel responded to the scene coming on more than 11 fire apparatus. The fire was minor in nature and did not require the fire department for major extinguishment or overhaul.
