9/11 Memorial Tribute Planned at BVFD
The BVFD is planning a small memorial tribute for Sunday morning, September 11th, to recognize the 343 firefighters who gave their lives responding to the horrific events 15 years ago.
Uniformed BVFD Members will place one American flag in front of Station 15 (13900 Old Columbia Pike) for each of the firefighters lost, but never forgotten. We will begin with a moment of silence at 8:45 am, the time that Flight 11 struck the North Tower of the World Trade Center.
BVFD Members will place flags, to the sound of bagpipes playing. We will pause at 9:03 am, the time that Flight 175 crashed into the South Tower. We will conclude with a brief prayer.
We invite our neighbors and community members to attend or to stop by during the day to place single flowers or a bow by each flag.
Local Church groups, Homeowner Associations, Scout Groups, Civic Associations are invited to participate by contacting BVFD President Tami Bulla at Tamera.Bulla@MontgomeryCountyMD.gov.
This brief event is intended to honor those who died on 9-11 and all those who continue to preserve, protect, and defend our freedom.
